Who is leading this effort?
The Justice Coalition (TJC) is a broad coalition of individuals seeking to create a responsible U.S. foreign policy in Palestine that complies with international law as well as U.S. law providing for the protection of human rights. It also seeks to ensure freedom of advocacy for individuals in the United States on matters related to Palestine. TJC is organized and operates under Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code.
TJC’s work is comprised of public advocacy, engagement with public officials, and limited direct political work in the form of support for the campaigns of candidates whose platforms align with TJC’s policy positions.
Where will my money go?
Our goal is to maximize the impact of all funds collected. We will utilize your donations to build and operate a sustainable organization. This will include the costs related to conducting activities related to voter registration and engagement, advocacy with political candidates and elected officials, efforts to promote actual voting in elections, fundraising activities, etc.
What are TJC’s policy priorities?
1. Ending the genocide in Gaza and facilitating its reconstruction;
2. Ensuring U.S. weapons are not used to commit war crimes;
3. Ending indiscriminate bombardment;
4. Ensuring access to adequate humanitarian aid;
5. Ending administrative and detention, politically-motivated unlawful detention and torture in prisons;
6. Ending land expropriation in the West Bank;
7. Self-determination for all residents of Palestine, as well as refugees; and
8. Ensuring equal rights for all residents of the West Bank and Gaza.
We have tried voting and even some fundraising before; what’s so different about this?
Full engagement in the political discourse and political process is necessary for those seeking to change policy. To that end, we need a coordinated, broad-based effort. We must communicate clearly to candidates a human-rights narrative, be proactive about legislative efforts, and channel our communities’ collective resources and expertise to increase our impact. Individual contributions and engagement is not nearly as effective as a coordinated, effective collective engagement.
● It is also important that we not become discouraged. Because pro-apartheid Israeli discourse is so dominant in our government’s political culture, it will take a lot of coordinated work to reverse that. That said, we are convinced that TJC and its partners will not need the resources that AIPAC and its counterparts
How is this effort any different than other Arab-American/Muslim-American organizations that already exist?
Very few organizations focus exclusively on political work for Palestine. Although this organization welcomes and includes Arabs and Muslims, it is not organized around any ethnicity, religion or political party. I am unable to commit to a large donation. Can I do less?
Yes, of course! TJC will be sustainable if individuals with limited means contribute small amounts on a regular basis, and wealthier individuals contribute larger amounts when they can. TJC’s membership/donation model ensures that the organization maintains a steady income stream to sustain routine costs while welcoming larger donations so TJC can grow and increase its impact.
